RANUNCULUS: More than words.

could it be that Ranunculus is the most perfect bloom?  Does it, the peonie’s step sister, deserve the spotlight?  The need for a loose vase and low water is too scintillating in combination with this long lasting lover.  Ranunculus season ended months ago.  I’m still in mourning and still drooling over the countless portraits I took of her.  These are all from the farmers’ market, save the first two images, possibly.  I cheated.  I cheated on Bloomies and I admit it.  I’m ashamed.  Not even Martha approved.  But I had to.  Have you ever seen such lusciousness ever in your whole life?  Not even the florists of Paris can compete with my Rockridge farmers’ market ranunculus.

Well, at Bloomies the going price was $12.50 for a big bunch. I think I got the ones at the farmers’ market for something ridiculous like $4/bunch.

Sorry NYC…the flora just isn’t as accessible out there. Come to the land of milk and honey.
