The New York Times in hand we stroll east on Shafter, hang a right on Hudson heading south to the Hudson Bay Cafe. It doesn’t look like much, but they make inspired espresso drinks, heavenly iced tea, and have a basic nutritious turkey sandwich on hand for the hunger-crises-wrought among us (like Saddleshoos).

Sit a while, then stroll up College Avenue musing over vintage gowns at Recapture, and sustainable accessories for home and person at Atomic Garden, then dally at Diesel Books and pick up something by Jim Shepard.
