Last Weekend’s Arrangement

I took this as a hostess gift on Friday night.  

It is: hydrangea, mini callas, unknown grass, and mink protea.  Here is a view from above:

And here is a close up of the mink protea, known as mink protea for its incredible softness.  This one is unusual.  I usually see them in pink and red and purple, so I was particularly thrilled to find this lime green one.  Worthy of my eccentric friend and hostess:

The petals will spread out and it will open up large, exposing the stamen.

    I’ve long dug protea flowers – I am still trying to dig up all the flower photos I had somewhere. The only one I can find right now is here
